Jacob and Rebekah Dell

Jacob Dell born 1805 at Speen Farm was the son of Thomas Dell Jnr. & Mary,nee Carter.

Rebekah Saunders born 1804.

Jacob and Rebekah married in 1824.

1841 Census Shopkeepers at Darvills Hill

1851 & 1861 census. Shopkeepers at Highlands (later called Ardengrove), Main Road, Lacey Green. They smoked herrings causing a very 'fishy'' smell, according to Mabel Janes.

In 1871 Jacob 71 widower is living with Uriah at 3&4 High Street, High Wycombe, wine merchant. Jacob died in 1875.

7 Children of Jacob and Rebekah, all born at Darvills Hill :-

Reuben Dell born 1826 married Maria Hawes in 1853. They lived at Green Hailey. Reuben was a gamekeeper. He died in 1912. They had no children.

Ebenezer Dell born 1831, was baptised in 1843, died 1857.

Uriah Dell born 1835 married Rebecca Carter Dell in 1860. See Ardengrove

Hezekiah Dell born 1837, was baptised in 1843, died 1849.

Miriam Dell born 1840 married William John Child in 1868. They lived in High Wycombe. William was a grocer's assistant then a bookseller. They had 4 children.

Mary Ann Alphia Dell born 1849 married Jabez Williams in 1868. Jabez was from Flowers Bottom. They moved a lot, their children being born various places.

Charles Dell born 1850 married Mary Baldwin in 1875. By 1891 census Charles is Police Sergeant in the Northants Constabulary. By 1901 he had retired back in Speen. They had 3 children. Mary died in 1912 aged 62. Charles died in 1933 aged 82.
