Harry & Lily Barber
From Lacey Green History
Lily Barber was a member of the Village Hall Committee from 1980 to 1984. She wrote the report from the Village Hall for Hallmark on occasion in the early 1980s.
April 1980 Notice in Hallmark. The Village Hall Social Committee will this year be starting the Sunday Teas at the Village Hall on Sunday afternoons from 27th April. We need volunteers to man the fort (two persons each Sunday) from 2.30 until 5 o'clock. If any kind soul who will have a free Sunday would contact Mrs. Barber, White Cottage, Main Road and give her the dates you could manage, it would be most appreciated. Click Village Hall Teas for more about these.

When Harry and Lily Barber left in 1984, the editor of Hallmark wrote "In this issue we say goodbye to a number of Village Hall friends, people who defied the old belief that it takes 20 years to be accepted in a village, by their hard work and willingness, in a short space of time they became part of the community and will be sorely missed.
Harry and Lily Barber have worked to help nearly every village organisation. Lily is one of those rare persons that only come along occasionally, a person willing to do anything, a gofor this and gofor that, you find very few people prepared to run their feet off like Lily did, a great worker who never sought the limelight, as Village Hall Secretary she will be greatly missed. Harry was always prepared to do what his wife asked, as a ticket seller and doorman he had no equal, as doorman he could aways spot a 'Bad un'.
To these friends we send sincere thanks for all they have done for the village, and wish them all the very best in their move for retirement, and as they are not moving too great a distance, we hope to see them from time to time.
