I've just met the ball of energy that is Lacey Green’s answer to Gareth Malone!

Gavin is a musical powerhouse with an impressive range of musical projects on the go at any time.

He is a long-term Singing Coach at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts), teaching students how to sing and perform. He has also worked in the West End theatres for over 25 years leading the orchestra in shows like Chicago.

He is famous in the music industry and last year when RADA celebrated its 60th anniversary, Gavin was invited to Buckingham Palace to play for the Queen and for the great and the good of the theatrical world.

Gavin also works for RADA Enterprises, raising funds for RADA from commercial events across Europe by entertaining businessmen and celebrities. One of his favourite corporate events is when he is engaged to do team building for a team of business managers. Like Gareth Malone in the TV show “The Choir” Gavin takes a business team for the afternoon and forms them into a choir and teaches them to sing a song.

You can imagine how difficult this must be as most of us are very nervous and embarrassed when asked to sing in public. However, Gavin's energy and enthusiasm win through, and by the end of the day he has them all singing together as a group and enjoying themselves.

Gavin has also worked with musical charities taking travelling shows into old people’s homes, day centres, prisons and other public places, bringing music to those who cannot get out to public performances.

His next venture is a trip to the Philippines to teach drama students about how Shakespeare used song and to help them put together a performance of “The Tempest”.

Gavin also has various other commercial ventures on the go. Along with a friend he has a business called Writers of Note where they write and record original music and musical ‘exercises for children.

Also if you are a practising singer and need an instrumental backing track for you to sing along to, Gavin can record a piano backing track for you. On his Internet web site at practicetracks.co.uk you can find over 1,000 tracks that Gavin has already published, or you can commission him to record a track specially for you.

Finally he has a sideline in staging musical cabarets starring singers that he has worked with during his years on Chicago.

Sometimes he takes over a London theatre for a night and other times uses a more local venue. If you are looking for a different experience to take your beloved to this Valentine’s Night then go along to Missenden Abbey where Gavin will be accompanying the famous singer Anita Louise Combe presenting a musical cabaret of well known songs. (See the Missenden Abbey web site for details).

Gavin is supported by a musical family - Cher is well known in the village for her piano lessons and as being the St John’s Lacey Green Church organist, whilst their son Tom is much in demand for his fantastic singing voice.
