Ken Barnes who lived at Pendre, Crown Field reported that James Harris built Crown Field nos 1, 2, 3 and 4. He had a yard near the bottom of Smalldean Lane which he later sold to Searls who were coal merchants. Crown Field no 3 and Crown Field no 4 were semi- detached.
