Alan Luxford born 1931 was the son of William and Gladys Luxford

Alan married twice. 1st to Pamela Stallwood in 1954---divorced --- 2nd marriage to Wendy Head in 1988.

Alan was born at 'Windyridge', Mill road (later Main Road), Lacey Green. Until 1953 he lived in one of Willow Cottages, Mill Road. He built a bungalow called 'Westwinds' in the orchard of 'Windyridge' He returned to Westwinds in 1988.

For the first time since 1871 a non-member of the, Davenport Vernon family took the Chair at a board meeting this summer, Alan, a Lacey Green man born and bred, started with Davenport Vernon, High Wycombe almost 40 years ago and achieved the unique distinction of chairing the Group Board Meeting in the absence of the Chairman away on holiday.

The company was founded in 1871 by Robert Davenport Vernon and he was succeeded by his son Guy Davenport Vernon. In the late 1940's the company was taken over by his brother-in-law Mr. David Denne and on his death his son Ralph Denne was appointed Chairman.

Alan joined the company in March 1946 in the service department and four years later was appointed assistant to the Company Secretary/Accountant. This position he held until 1961 when he took over the administration of car sales until two years later at the end of 1962 he took over the business of Risboro! Garage Ltd. From 1973 he ran Risboro! Garage in conjunction with the Ford dealership in Thame, West of Thame Ltd. In 1978 on the death of Mr. David Denne he was appointed to the family holding company, and is now a member of all the group companies.
