Excerpt from an article in Hallmark by Councillor Philip Suter :-

"Monday 3rd October 2016 eight local Parish Councillors visited RAF High Wycombe at Walters Ash to learn more about its functions. Four from Lacey Green attended - Cathryn Davies, Roger Craft, Liz Patient and Philip Suter.

We proceeded to the bunker that many residents will remember being constructed over twenty five years ago. Here we were taken down to a briefing room and were given a presentation on the history of the site by the Station Commander. Apart from explaining the importance of RAF High Wycombe in today's world he also told us about its role in the Second World War and the fact that the base had been built to look like a village with the fire station resembling a church.

We then moved into NADOC control room, then left the present with a walk over t the Lancaster Block that houses the "Bomber" Harris Room. We then went below ground to the tunnels leading the bunker. Unfortunately, visitors are unable to go in the bunker itself due to flood damage in the past, however after seeing photos of what it looked like and going down part of the network of tunnels to the door we were able to take in the atmosphere of the place.

We the went to the Officers' Mess situated in Bradenham Woods Lane. We were given a tour of the building and refreshments and a final question and answer session with the Station Commander."
