2013 Irene Sanders obituary

From Lacey Green History

Irene Sanders 1925-2013 by David Sanders (son)

It is with great sadness that I record the passing of Mrs Irene Sanders. Although not having lived in Lacey Green since 1984, many people may remember her contribution to village life. She moved into No 3, Stocken Cottages, Kiln Lane, with husband Wilfred and three sons in 1966. Irene spent many years working for village groups including the Village Hall committee, as fund raiser, caretaker and bookings secretary. Irene was also involved in starting the junior youth club along with other villagers. Also helping to organise bonfire nights, sponsored walks and the village celebrations for the Queen's Silver Jubilee.

Irene worked at Palmer & Harvey in Church Lane and for the Jourdan family at Gracefield. Retiring down to Worthing in 1984 where she lived until moving back to Tring in November 2008. She became ill, suffering from Dementia and moved into Icknield Court in Princes Risborough, where she lived until her death. Irene passed away aged 88, in Wycombe hospital on 21st March following a stroke. For more details click Wilf & 'Rene Sanders and 1984 Wilf & 'Rene Sanders leave. also 2007 Wilf Sanders obituary.
