1990 Obituary Nell Panter of Lacey Green Productions
From Lacey Green History
By Jane Tyrer
Nell Panter who died on September 7th was one of the driving, creative forces of L.G.P. since its beginnings. Though, because of illness, she was unable much to her frustration, to complete the directorship of "Alice" it was her planning that was reflected in the final production. Nell's vision and dedication will also be apparent in the plays she helped choose with Val to be performed next year. The respect (tinged with fear if she shouted!) admiration and love with which she was regarded was evident on the last night of 'Alice', with the ovation given on her appearance on stage. These feelings were present in almost tangible form at our AGM held on 9th September. Grief was expressed in large measure, but the tears were not all tears of sadness. Anyone present on that occasion could not help but realise the profound support given not only to those family and friends most nearly affected by Nell's death, but from each member of the organisation one to another. The sense of community and of shared loss bore witness not only to Nell's qualities but also to the nature of the group she helped to found.
