Francis Mead died in 1975. The following was written by Harry Church & published in Hallmark :-
At the November meeting of the Parish Council warm tributes were paid to the late Francis Mead, whose death occurred recently while in hospital, after a comparatively short illness.
Francis was Clerk to the Council for 25 years, being also Clerk to Bledlow-cum-Saunderton. He was well known and highly respected in Local Government circles for his wide knowledge of Parish Council Law; always ready to give in a most unassuming way, good sound advice, after giving great thought to the particular problem, with a flair for very diplomatic approaches to other Councils and officials which conveyed what the Parish Council really wanted.
Francis was a great believer in the personal touch and never missed an opportunity to see officials in person.
Here was a man, assisted by his good wife, who really did try and help his fellow men without thought of financial gain or reward.
The Parish Councillors joined a large congregation at the Requiem Mass held in St. Teresa's R. C. Church at Princes Risborough, and my wife and myself joined the family at the private committal at Amersham Crematorium.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Mead and family.
